JustinBradley’s client is looking to add a CFO to their team. Operating as a 501(c) (3) public nonprofit organization, the organization relies on a nationwide, 80-member volunteer Board of Trustees from a wide range of backgrounds.
This organization has embarked on an exciting 5-year strategic plan to double their revenue. The next CFO needs to commit to this growth and the demands of our changing world while honoring our core values and traditions.  The CFO will have the opportunity to join a dynamic leadership team as they move forward to take the organization into the next phase of their strategic priorities. This CFO will be part of a close-knit community, both staff and board, who take great pride in their responsibility to their members.

Reporting to the President, the CFO will be responsible for oversight of all finance, accounting and reporting activities of the Foundation. These areas include business planning, budgeting, cash management, financial and tax reporting, human resources, payroll and IT.

Highlighted Responsibilities:
  • Skillfully handle all finances, including multiple revenue streams and investment accounts including several endowments.
  • Develop multi-year operating and capital budgets and establish a detailed business plan for the organization.
  • Provide comprehensive monthly and quarterly financial & statistical reports for the leadership team; including the Finance, Investment, and Audit Committees, along with the Board of Trustees.
  • Oversee the preparation of 990 forms with supporting documentation and compliance reviews of internal controls to ensure a successful annual audit.
  • Lead and manage a team of 2 including a Controller and Staff Accountant providing oversight of the day to day functions and including advice and counsel on critical issues to entire staff.
  • Support the President and Chairman on all issues involving finance, investment and strategic planning.
  • Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with the policies and investment guidelines of the Foundation.
  • Partner with senior leadership and outsourced human resources (HR) and information technology (IT) staff to enhance and better integrate finance, HR, and IT functions.
  • Maintain our code of ethics.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, rules and regulations applicable to our organization.

A well-qualified candidate will possess the following:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CPA, or other relevant Master’s degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in financial management, at least 3 years in a senior role leading a finance/accounting function.
  • Possess highly attuned business, management and soft skills to work positively and collaboratively with a wide range of individuals.
  • PC proficient with managing relationships with software vendors, advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software, strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially EXCEL with extensive spreadsheet experience. Previous experience with Blackbaud is preferred.
